Bee removal in Hermosa Beach is our most common emergency call from March through July, when swarms leave crowded colonies and move into wall voids, soffits, chimneys, irrigation boxes and old furniture. A swarm hanging on a branch will often move on within a day or two. Bees flying in and out of a gap in your siding mean a colony has started building comb, and that colony will not leave by itself.
We remove the entire colony, including the honeycomb, because comb left behind melts in summer heat, stains drywall, ferments and draws ants, roaches and new swarms back to the same cavity. Whenever the colony is calm and reachable, we vacuum the bees with a low-pressure bee vacuum and hand them off to a South Bay beekeeper instead of exterminating them.
We provide bee removal throughout Hermosa Beach and nearby Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, Torrance, El Segundo, Palos Verdes Estates, Rancho Palos Verdes, Lawndale, Hawthorne and Gardena.
Signs a colony has moved in
Southern California honeybees are frequently Africanized hybrids, so a hive that is quiet in April can become defensive by June as it grows. The earlier a colony is found, the smaller the comb and the simpler the repair.
Steady traffic at one gap
Dozens of bees entering and leaving the same crack, vent or weep screed all day is a nesting colony, not a passing swarm.
Humming, wax stains or honey drips
A low buzz inside a wall, dark greasy spots on stucco or honey seeping through a ceiling point to an established comb.
Our bee removal process
Every bee job starts with locating the comb, because the entrance hole is rarely where the hive sits. We use a thermal camera to map the warm cluster before opening anything.
Locate the comb
Thermal imaging and a stethoscope show where the colony and comb sit inside the wall, roof or eave.
Remove bees and comb
We open the smallest possible section, vacuum the bees alive, and cut out all comb and honey.
Seal and repair
The cavity is cleaned, treated to mask the scent, insulated if needed and closed so a new swarm cannot reuse it.
Why choose us for bee removal
Bee work means ladders, opened walls and thousands of stinging insects, so it is not a job to attempt with a spray can. Our technicians wear full suits, keep the work area taped off and leave the structure closed and clean.
Recent bee removal jobs: honeybee hive removal from a living room ceiling in Hermosa Beach, honeycomb removal from an exterior wall cavity in Torrance, live bee colony removal from a wooden cable spool in Gardena.
- Live relocation to local beekeepers when possible
- Full comb and honey removal, not just the bees

Bee Removal FAQs
Yes, in most cases. If the colony is accessible and not dangerously defensive, we vacuum the bees alive and relocate them to a beekeeper. Highly aggressive colonies near schools, pools or elderly residents may have to be eliminated for safety, and we explain that before starting.
A hanging swarm usually starts around $189. An established colony inside a wall, roof or ceiling typically runs $450 to $1,100 depending on access, comb size and repair work. We give a firm price after the inspection.
Bees return to cavities that still smell of wax and honey. That is why we remove all comb, treat the void and seal the entrance. Our structural removals include a one-year warranty on the same entry point.
Please do not. Spraying an established colony kills the outer bees, agitates the rest, and leaves a wall full of comb and dead bees that rots. It also makes live relocation impossible.
