Project overview
On a hot July afternoon a Rancho Palos Verdes homeowner found a southern Pacific rattlesnake coiled against the porch wall beside the front door. The family stayed inside and called us.
Our technician arrived quickly, confirmed the species and found a second hiding area in the rock landscaping next to the walkway.
What the client needed
The family needed the rattlesnake removed immediately and wanted to know how to keep more from coming onto the porch.
- Immediate safe capture of a venomous snake
- Check of nearby hiding areas
- Relocation away from homes
- Prevention plan for the entry and yard
Our approach
The rattlesnake was captured with long tongs and secured in a locking container. We inspected the rock landscaping and porch edge, then recommended snake fencing along the canyon side and closing gaps under the garage door.

- Inspection of rock and porch hiding spots
- Relocation to open space
- Snake fencing and gap-sealing plan
